Evan Kiyoshi French graduated from the Humber College Advanced Journalism Program in 2008. He worked as a full-time reporter at several community newspapers across Southern Ontario, before enrolling at the University of Guelph Humber – where he’s completing a bachelor of Applied Arts in Media Studies. While covering a maternity leave at the Parry Sound North Star/Beacon Star, he was the recipient of the Metroland newspaper group’s Best Series category for 2008, for accounts of three local families touched by death in the Second World War. He took Third Place, in the Ontario Community News Association’s Better Newspaper Competition of 2009, for Best Investigative News Story. He likes to spend his free time catching trout.
